Pluto TV - It’s Free TV review
Pluto TV is an app for streaming live television or movies on demand on mobile devices via the Internet. It is developed by Pluto Inc. and is completely free to download on Android and iOS.
Features: TV and Movies
Pluto TV is a pretty standard streaming app that allows you to watch the television or the movies on demand on your phone. There are more than 250 channels of live TV available and more than a thousand movies for you to watch anytime.
While other streaming platforms offer paid subscriptions, the best benefit of Pluto TV is that it is completely free to use. There are advertisements, however, but that is a great app to try streaming on mobile. If you are new to this and not sure if you would like to pay a subscription, you can just download Pluto TV and stream a few movies for free.
Design, interface & usability: Simple and Standard
The design of the app is pretty average for the streaming segment. Posters visually present the shows, and the live channels come with a comfortable grid that shows what’s currently live. The app's structure is pretty average as well: you can switch between the two main tabs of live TV and movies on demand, and there are several sections of the app as well. This makes the navigation pretty intuitive, and the app, in general is very user-friendly. If you have ever used any streaming app, Pluto TV will be easy to understand the very second you launch it for the first time.
Security: Not a Malware
Despite many platforms that offer you to watch TV and movies for free are spreading malware, Pluto TV is nothing more than an ad-supported program. There were some security flaws in the browser edition of Pluto TV, but the mobile app was never part of major security scandals. The app does not collect sensitive personal information; therefore, the privacy of such information is not a concern in this case. While with Netflix and other streaming services you would have to worry about the security of your account, Pluto TV does not have such a problem as it is free to use.
Conclusion: Middling 3/5
To sum up, Pluto TV is an app that both has its drawbacks and its benefits. It is only up to you to decide whether it will become a decent streaming app to use on a daily basis. However, the app is completely free, so we suggest at least trying it. In case you will enjoy the service and the ads won’t significantly distract you from focusing on the content, it will be a nice option to save money on a subscription.
