Minecraft review

Minecraft Pocket Edition is the mobile interpretation of the survival sandbox game launched by Mojang Studios, a Swedish indie developer in 2011. This popular block-builder still finds fans who download Minecraft PE in 2020.

Gameplay: Less Space, Fewer Enemies (3/5)

First, you get fascinated by the freedom of creating space around you. Sand, dirt, stone blocks (that you challenge to find and transport yourself) let you make whatever landscape you can imagine. In survival mode, after the sunset, you have to fight enemies. But in the Pocket Edition, you quickly get armed against them and feel a bit bored.

Also, Pocket’s open worlds feel quite limited. After crafting for some time, you knock against a transparent block, which happens in all directions. In contrast to the PC version, when you can build as far as you can imagine, PE feels a bit like a trap. And, unlike the full version, exploration is not remunerated.

Graphics: Nice Colors and Pleasant Textures 4/5

Plain textures and color schemes of the cubes are inspiring your creativity in the daytime. Clear and recognizable, those bricks form buildings and installations. At night, when AI monsters jump into the fight, they seem pretty scary and look dangerous.

Tap to Add Bricks 4/5

It is easier to manipulate bricks (compared to the desktop edition): as you choose the proper material, you just tap it to add to your stock. Another cool feature that we would mention in this Minecraft PE review is that you can auto-jump on bars as you approach them. A slightly disappointing thing about enemies, which variety is restricted in PE, is that they are destroyed by merely turning the weapon around and moving back rapidly.

Will Not Play It Time and Again 3/5

You can still construct a house with doors and windows by your preference, even with your friends, which can be interesting and fun. But most likely, you will enjoy it during a couple of hours in the creative mode, utilizing the endless material accessibility. The survival mode with attacking monsters, for sure, makes it far more exciting, but the main drawback is that PE cannot connect to the multiplayer desktop servers.

Not Good

Though Minecraft Pocket Edition will help you survive away from your desktop version for a while, the gaming experience could be a little bit disappointing. Lifeless without many creatures to fight and with boarded space, we would not recommend you to download Minecraft Pocket Edition unless you feel curious to compare it to the PC version.

Pros:

  • Has a comfy tap option
  • Easy to kill enemies

Cons:

  • Does not connect to desktop games
  • Has limited functionality
  • Has no ban commands

Great

Now Minecraft is a meme, a base for other games, a bestseller of the century. If you’re into building, constructing, or just applying your imagination, this game is for you. But remember: as rich as it gets, it won’t leave you satisfied after an hour or two a day. It’s hungry for all of your time.
