Paving the way for a more engaging streaming experience, YouTube is set to roll out a considerable update that will enable users to more effectively manage their content and introduce innovative ways to search for desired songs on the platform.

Central to this update is the much-anticipated 'Search by Song' tool. This tool functions in a similar vein to the familiar application Shazam, allowing users to identify a song by singing, humming, or playing a tune on YouTube. Behind the scenes, YouTube's highly sophisticated AI technology compares these inputs with the original recording of the song for a match. Initially seen in its beta phase in August this year, the feature, upon official roll-out, seems to be holding true to its beta operation.

Upon activation of YouTube's voice search, users can switch to the Song recorder and hum, sing, or play the song into the device's microphone for a duration of around three seconds. The app will then bring up related official music content. However, this innovative feature will be exclusive to Android users initially, gradually rolling out in the next few weeks. The timeline for the feature's availability on the iOS platform remains unknown.

The update also encompasses a slew of other features with a more universal reach. The most noteworthy among these is the new 'You tab.' This fusion of the account page and Library tab seeks to provide a consolidated space for users to manage their profile settings downloads and view their previously watched videos without having to switch between different sections.

Furthermore, the YouTube player will now boast a 'Stable Volume' feature as part of its mobile interface to minimize disturbing differences in volume. This feature might prove handy for content plagued by poor audio mixing. Another addition is the lock screen feature to prevent unintended interruptions on both Smartphone and Tablet interfaces. There is also a 'Press to 2x' feature, where users can accelerate the playback speed to twice its rate by holding down on the YouTube player. These updates are slated for a gradual global release over the coming weeks.
